(Circleville) – The Pickaway Agriculture and Event Center is gearing up to host the one-of-a-kind 7-mile Bluegrass Festival from July 25th-27th.
This is the 6th year of the festival, and this year event organizer Billy Self chose to bring it to Pickaway County, where he has personal roots. Self emphasized the significance of choosing the Pickaway Agriculture and Event Center as the venue, saying, “We searched for a new upgraded location, but everything led us back to Pickaway. The beautiful stage and easy access for disabled individuals sealed the deal.”
This annual event not only features live bluegrass music but also stands as a beacon of support for veterans’ causes. Founded by Billy Self and his brother Chuck, this festival is a unique blend of toe-tapping tunes and a heartfelt tribute to those who have served their country, a testament to the personal experiences of the Self family.
“After witnessing a family member who served our country, homeless, living under a bridge in Chillicothe, having lost everything. We became inspired to initiate a fundraiser to support veterans facing similar challenges,” shared Self.
Self works tirelessly to collect food and monetary donations for veterans in need, and also has raffles throughout the event. He expressed his thankfulness for the communities he has worked with, and the businesses and people who have supported his event.
“The 7 Mile Bluegrass Festival is more than just music; it’s a community gathering and a show of support for our veterans,” Self said.
The 2024 festival’s headliners include Larry Gillis on Thursday, Williamson Branch and the legendary Grascals on Friday, and the house band 7 Mile on Friday and Saturday nights, showcasing their original music.
Attendees are welcome to camp with a permit from July 24th at 4pm to July 28th at noon for $50 per night. Interested campers can contact (740) 474-2085. Self hopes many visitors will utilize local lodging options for those who prefer accommodations during the festival.
The entry fee for the event is a donation of 6 nonperishable or personal care items, supporting veterans in transition and the Chillicothe VA.
The 7 Mile Bluegrass Festival is a testament to the power of community and grassroots support. It’s not due to significant advertising but our community’s and sponsors’ unwavering support. For more information and to get involved, contact Billy Self at (740) 701-0834 or visit 7milebluegrass.com.
