D-II State Bowling is This Weekend; D-I State Next Weekend

Article presented by The Bean Foundation

Hillsboro Boys and Girls Bowling teams earned berths to the D-I State Tournament by winning the East-Southeast District tournament earlier this week at Coshocton’s Legacy Lanes.

The Indians’ Girls team of Rylie Ison (580), Madison Nichols (502), Camilyn Miller (470) and Rylee Moyer (430), Sydney Bayless (255) scored enough to finish ahead of the field before the Baker Games. When all was done, Hillsboro won the Girls tournament by 116 pins over Frontier Athletic Conference foe Miami Trace.

The Panther’s Carlee Hauk is a state qualifier scoring the top score among those not on a qualifying team. Hauk rolled a 504 to qualify.

The Hillsboro Boys team of Andrew Tomko (682), Camden Lively (634), Zach Burwinkel (624), Aidan Lemaster (598) and Austin Bledsoe (572) added a Baker total of 1183 for a 4293 score, 221 more than second place New Philadelphia.

The Quakers’ Landon Labiche had the top score of all bowlers (724) to qualify for the state next weekend.

HP Lanes in Columbus is the site for the OHSAA State Tournament.

The D-I qualifiers will bowl next weekend, the Girls on Friday and Boys on Saturday. Both begin at 10:15am.

The Division-II Girls tournament was held Friday with Urbana winning the Championship. Southeast District Champ Whiteoak failed to reach the championship round. The Boys D-II State tournament is Saturday at 10:15am. The Washington Blue Lions and Clinton-Massie Falcons will participate as teams and Wellston’s Scott Davis is there as an individual qualifier.
