PICCA Hires New Executive Director

(Circleville) – The Pickaway County Community Action Organization (PICCA) has appointed Jonna Motter as its new Executive Director. Motter, a 10-year veteran of the agency, succeeds Becky Hammond, who retired on January 31, 2025.

Motter brings a wealth of experience, having previously served as the agency’s Director of Early Childhood Education for the past two-and-a-half years. She began her journey with PICCA as a parent in the Head Start/Early Head Start program, before joining the organization as a nurse in Early Head Start. Over the years, she advanced to Early Head Start Manager and then to her most recent role as director.

In a letter to agency staff following the board’s approval, PICCA Board President Tonya S. Thompson expressed excitement about Motter’s leadership, stating: “We are delighted to welcome Jonna as Executive Director, as her leadership skills and visionary thinking will help drive the continued success and growth of the organization.”

Motter herself shared her enthusiasm for the new role: “I am honored and excited to step into the role of Executive Director,” she said. “Serving our community is a passion of mine, and I look forward to leading our efforts to create meaningful, positive change for those we serve.”

A lifelong resident of Pickaway County, Motter is a graduate of Logan Elm High School and the mother of four. She became a licensed practical nurse in 2014 and worked as a hospice nurse while pursuing her associate’s and bachelor’s degrees at Ohio University, completing her bachelor’s degree in 2022.

Motter outlined her priorities for the organization: “My goals are to build capacity within the agency, strengthen community relationships, foster collaboration with our partners, and continue advancing PICCA’s mission of changing lives,” she said. “For 60 years, PICCA has been dedicated to helping people, and I am excited to lead the organization into its next chapter.”

Founded in 1965, PICCA is committed to improving the lives of residents in Pickaway County by providing programs and services to increase self-sufficiency and economic stability. Some of the agency’s initiatives include Early Head Start and Head Start programs, Emergency Services (such as home energy assistance and transitional housing for homeless veterans), Empowerment Opportunities (providing support for career goals, fresh produce, and Toys for Tots), Transit Solutions, and Residential Services for income-eligible individuals and families.
