Article Presented By Rathkamp Financial…

(Ross County) – Volunteers are being sought for the Annual Point In Time Count to be held in Ross County between 8pm Tuesday, January 28th and 6am Wednesday, January 29th.

The Federal Requirement is the Housing Inventory Chart which provides an overview of the community’s homeless program inventory and the Point in Time County which counts the sheltered and unsheltered homeless persons in our community.

Sheltered is counted through the HMIS system. The Housing Inventory Components are Emergency Shelters, Transitional Housing, Rapid ReHousing, Joint TH-RRH and Permanent Supportive Housing. The Point in Time Count Components are Sheltered Count- Emergency Shelters, Transitional Housing, Persons residing in hotels/motels paid for by public or private organizations for the purpose of providing emergency shelter and Extreme weather shelters/cold shelters/seasonal shelters. Unsheltered Count includes persons who, on the night of the count, are living in a place not designed for or not ordinarily used as a regular sleeping accommodation for human beings. Including persons staying in cars, encampments or abandoned buildings.

Aside from the Point In Time Count, the Ross County Continuum of Care will also be participating in a Service Based Count which includes people experiencing homelessness who access social services; homeless services, food pantries, soup kitchens, libraries are asked about where they slept on the designated PIT night. This will occur for the 7 days following the P.I.T. night count.
