(Piketon) – The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and Fluor-BWXT (FBP) will be offering public tours of the former gaseous diffusion plant in Piketon this summer. The tours offer a unique look at the ongoing cleanup mission as the site prepares for future development.
“The summer tours offer a special look at the clean-up work and the ever-changing landscape of the site as we prepare for the future,” said DOE PORTS Site Lead Jeremy Davis. “It’s also a great way to learn about our local history and the role this site has played in our community.”
The tours are free of charge and open to any U.S. citizen, 18 and older. There are four dates to choose from this year, June 15, July 20, August 17, or September 21. Participants may reserve only one tour date per year. Seats are limited and filled on a first-come, first-served basis. If a tour fills, a waiting list is maintained and participants will be notified by email should a seat become available.
