#14 Teays Valley Girls Triumph over #10 Dublin Jerome

The (16-8) Teays Valley Vikings met the (17-7) Dublin Jerome Celtics Wednesday night in Columbus for District Semifinal play.
The Celtics scored first, but the Vikings quickly respond. Teays Valley kept rolling to make the score 9-2 in their favor after only two minutes of play. After five minutes, the score was 13-5. Teays Valley continued to maintain this seven point lead up until the end of the first quarter, where a foul shot brought them from 16-9 to 17-9.
The Vikings came out quickly with six points to begin the second quarter, while the Celtics scored four of their own. It was 23-13 after three minutes. The rest of the quarter proved to be slower, and the half ended with a score of 27-18.
The third quarter went scoreless for nearly three minutes before Gabrielle Watkins of Teays Valley made a big three pointer to bring their score to 30. TV didn’t let up the gas and quickly extended their score to 37, but the Celtics sank two 3-pointers and three foul shots to bring their score to 27 with a minute and a half left in the quarter. TV ended the quarter with five more points, bringing the score to 42-27.
Teays Valley didn’t hold back at all in the final quarter, and the final score was 55-36.
Tessa Hursley led the Lady Vikings in scoring with 15 points, while Gabrielle Watkins had 14. Lauran Ludwig and Kadence Conley led the Celtics with 5 points on the night.
Teays Valley will move on to the district final to play top seed Pickerington Central at 6:30pm on March 2nd.
