Warriors Grab Sole Possession of SVC VB Lead with 3-1 Win at Zane Trace

For the second time in one week, Adena Warriors Volleyball has knocked-off an unbeaten SVC foe. Tuesday was a 5-set win over Unioto and Thursday night, it was a 3-1 win at Zane Trace by scores of (25-19, 25-22, 20-25, 25-19). The win puts (4-0/8-0) Adena alone at the top of the SVC with both Unioto and Zane Trace, each at (3-1) in the conference.
Set #1 saw the Warriors out of the gate quickly with leads of 6-0, 9-2 and 10-3 with the Pioneers clawing their way back to within 11-8. Adena took off on another run to 21-13 and 22-14, but the Pioneers refused to go quietly, pulling to within 22-19, before Adena closed for the 25-19 win.
Set #2 was a back-and-forth affair until 11-10 Adena, with the Warriors increasing that advantage to 15-11. ZT would eventually get the lead back at 19-16, but the Warriors closed on a 9-3 run for the 25-22 victory and a (2-0) set lead.
Zane Trace stayed alive with a 25-20 win in Set #3, breaking away from a close score to get leads of 8-4 and 9-5. Adena tied the set at 13-13, but following a ZT time-out, the Pioneers roared to a 12-7 finish for a 25-20 decision.
Adena put Zane Trace back on their heels again in Set #4, rushing out to leads of 3-0, 4-1, and 9-4, with the Pioneers rallying to as close as 12-10 and 15-13. That’s when the Warriors took-off on a 6-0 run for a 21-13 lead. ZT called a time out and regrouped, but could not pull any closer than 24-19 before Adena finished for the 25-19 win.
Official Stats: Adena’s attack was led by Sydney Foglesong’s 20 kills, followed by Hannah Burns’ 13, Brinlee Preston added 5, Caroline Corcoran and Grace Townsend each had 4, Eva Kruger 2. Foglesong also had 2 solos and 2 block assists while Preston had 2 solos and 1 assisted blocks. Brook Bossert had 25 digs, Hannah Burns 22, Grace Townsend 12, Eva Kruger 15 and Brenna McQuiniff with 12. The Warriors served 12 aces for the match, with Townsend getting 6 and Brook Bossert with 3 and Kruger 2. Setting assists Townsend 36.
Official Zane Trace stats showed Lexi Scott with 24 kills, 22 digs, 1 solo block and 3 block assists. Alexis Farley, Laynie Scott and Kendra Detillion each had 6 kills and Mykah Hettinger added 5. Gracey McCullough had 38 digs, Kinley May 13 digs and 30 assists, Delaney Berry had 15 assists and 4 block assists. The Pioneers only served 3 aces.
