Full-Time Countywide EMS Service Proposed for Ross County

Article Presented By Hometown-Motors, Inc.

A plan to create a full-time countywide EMS service in Ross County is being proposed by some members within the Ross County Township Trustees Association, Ross County Sheriff George Lavender and others.

The reason given is the continued lack of volunteers to operate the EMS services in most of the county’s townships, which has been the backbone of EMS service in Ross County for decades.

In recent years, some townships have relied heavily on neighboring townships and private services to respond to many of their EMS runs- due to a lack of volunteers to operate their own service.

The proposal is currently in Phase 1 Pre-Planning, which will define roles, develop a problem statement, define study area, and create an inventory of data needed for upcoming phases. The plan committee will develop a scope of services for an RFP/RFQ for the Ross County Board of Commissioners to solicit a professional emergency medical service consultant. The committee will identify funding partners and develop a budget.

Jefferson Township Trustee Jim Hatfield and Green Township Trustee Barry Bennett were guests on LitterMediaLIVE- Special Edition, where they discussed the proposal and asked citizens to call their respective township trustees concerning their opinions about this proposal.
