D-2 and D-3 District CC Held Saturday at University of Rio Grande

The Southeast District Cross Country Championships were held at the University of Rio Grande Saturday.

The Division 2 Girls team top placing went to Fairfield Union, followed by Athens, Warren, Unioto and Hillsboro in the top five. Individual championship went to Sophia Szolosi of Athens in a time of 18:47.67. Runner-up goes to Cameron Walker of Unioto and Marie Souther of Zane Trace was third. Maddux Bigam of Circleville placed fourth and Anna Conrad of Fairfield Union was fifth.

Fairfield Union had the highest team finish for D-2 Boys, followed by Unioto, then Sheridan, Marietta and Westfall in top five. A top two finish is considered a “district championship”, which is Unioto’s 18th in the last 20 years.

The individual champ is Fairfield Union’s Marcus Runkle. Runner-up was Ezra Minard of Marietta, Charles Putnam of Portsmouth third, then Sheridan’s Tate Ruthers, Andrew Walton of Fairfield Union and 6th place to Seth Ogan of Unioto.

Division 3 Cross Cross Country team championships went to Belpre Boys and Wheelersburg Girls on Saturday at the University of Rio Grande.

In the Boys Meet, Belpre was followed by Rock Hill, Whiteoak, Eastern Meigs and North Adams in the top five. Individual champ is Whiteoak’s Landen Eyre in a time of 16:25.40. The district runner-up is Brayden O’Brien of Eastern Meigs with Ryan Richendollar of Adena in third.

In the Girls meet, Wheelersburg was followed by North Adams, West Union, Waterford and Crooksville in the top five. The individual champ is Samantha Seas of Peebles in a time of 20:12.4. Erica Durst of Eastern Meigs is the runner-up and Shy Miller of Belpre is third.
