Ross Community Action Accepting Applications For Winter Crisis Heating

The Ohio Development Services Agency and Ross County Community Action will be helping income eligible Ohioan’s stay warm this winter with heating costs.

The Winter Crisis Heating Program is running now through March 31, 2023.

Kristi Smith of the Ross Community Action Winter Crisis Heating Program, provided the following program information:

This might include: electric, natural gas, firewood pellets, and fuel oil/propane, if your supply is down to 25% or less. CAC also offers up to $500 on heating unit repairs.

A household must be at or below 175% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines, which means a family of four can earn up to $48,562.50 per year and qualify for the program.

Documents needed for applying include: identification, proof of U.S. citizenship or legal residency for all household members, proof of income for all household members- 18 and over- for the last 30 days or 12 months of self-employed for each member, and copies of most recent energy bills.

To make an appointment, call Ross County Community Action at (740) 702-7222 and press option 1. Or for direct appointment, call (740) 536-1199 and press option 1, then follow the prompts. Emergency walk-ins are conducted from 8am-10am Monday through Friday, which is for 24-48 hour disconnect for fuel/propane that is less than 25%.

*December 8- South Salem Branch Library 4pm-7pm
*December 9- Frankfort Branch Library 1pm-3pm
*December 9- Huntington Branch Library 4pm-7pm
*December 16- Kingston Branch Library 1pm-3pm
*December 30- Paxton Branch Library 1pm-3pm
*January 6- Richmond Dale Branch Library 1pm-3pm
