Horseback Riding Connector Closed For Winter at Pike State Forest

(Waverly) – Seasonal closures at Pike State Forest include the horseback riding connector trails at Pike Lake State Park until April 2023, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR).

Seasonal closures to horseback riding during the winter months offer opportunities for trail maintenance and allow the landscape to recover from heavy use in warmer months. During the closure, foot traffic will be allowed on all trails.

Trail rides on bridle trails within the state forest can be requested during the closed season. Interested applicants must complete a special use permit with ODNR’s Division of Forestry and submit it to the local forest manager at least five days prior to the event.

Pike Lake State Park offers a variety of seasonal cabins, family campground, and a group lodge. A nature center, hiking trails, and shelter house are also available.
