Unioto Surges Past Westfall in SVC Boys Golf With Match #6 Victory

A late season surge has enabled the Unioto Shermans to move past the Westfall Mustangs in the SVC Boys Golf standings, with only two rounds to play. Unioto took first in Match #6 at Chillicothe Jaycees Course Wednesday, firing a team score of 172.
Zane Trace was second at 173, with Westfall at 176 for third place. The two place difference between Unioto and Westfall has propelled the Shermans to first in the season standings with 43 points and Westfall second with 42 points. The Pioneers are a distant third with 36 points.
The Mustangs won the first four matches of the conference season, but have seen Unioto win the last two, with Westfall placing fourth in Match #5 and third in Match #6.
Unioto’s Charlie Lewis took Match #6 medalist honors with a 37, with runner-Up medalists Jon Grondolsky Jr. of Zane Trace and Southeastern’s Brayden Popp, each with a round of 40.
The championship comes down to the wire with Matches #7 & #8 Thursday morning (9/21), staring at 9am at the Elks Course.
