Ross Historical Center Christmas Open House December 9th

Article Presented By Pickaway Ross CTC…

(Chillicothe) – The Ross County Historical Society’s 2023 Christmas Open House is Saturday, December 9th, at the Ross County Heritage Center, 45 West Fifth Street, from 1pm to 4pm.

Features will include a beautiful, one-of-a-kind Christmas tree decorated with hundreds of hand-cut paper ornaments–a traditional Pennsylvania German craft known as Scherenschnitte–by local artist Bonnie Grove; a charming Victorian Christmas parlor with late 19th & early 20th century holiday decorations and toys; and other exhibits including “Toys from the Attic,” and “Chillicothe’s Model Railroad.” The event will also be the last opportunity to see what remains of our exhibit in the McKell Library featuring early Ross County Needlework from the historical society’s textile collections. Calendars, Christmas and New Year’s cards, and children’s Christmas books have replaced some of the samples for the holiday season.

Enjoy traditional holiday atmosphere and browse the Museum Store for special holiday gifts including many books and other hard-to-find publications on local and regional history for those history buffs on your shopping list. Giftshop items featured this year are new RCHS t-shirts, notepads, wooden kitchen utensils, as well as Bonnie Grove’s Scherenschnitte Christmas ornaments and framed cuttings as well.

Please join the Ross County Historical Society for a visit to Christmas past. Admission is free, and everyone is welcome.
