Art Exhibit at Hocking Hills

Article Presented By Hometown-Motors, Inc.

(Hocking Hills) – Arts in the Parks, a collaboration between the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) and Ohio Arts Council (OAC), introduces a new exhibit at the Hocking Hills State Park Lodge & Conference Center, featuring a variety of Ohio landscapes painted by artist Janet Grissom.

The exhibit is called ‘Marks About Nature’ showcasing several oil painted landscapes, highlighting natural textures as well as flora and fauna. Several of the paintings feature Ohio’s natural wonders. Grissom, who grew up in Southern Ohio, has painted all around the world and credits her love of colors and textures from her childhood on the family farm.

Artist Janet Grissom poses with her paintings (L). Grissom uses a three-dimensional application technique called impasto in her work (R).

The exhibit is open to the public July 3rd through August 7th. An artists talk and a live painting demonstration are also scheduled along with the display.

The Artist Talk will be Wednesday, July 10th at 4pm with the Painting Demonstration Thursday, July 11th from Noon–2pm.

This exhibit and artist talk are part the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Arts in the Parks collaboration with the Ohio Arts Council. Arts in the Parks programs celebrate the interconnectedness of arts and nature, providing new ways for people to enjoy Ohio State Parks.
