Parvo Outbreak Temporarily Closes Ross Humane Society Dog Shelter

(Chillicothe) – The Ross County Humane Society has announced in a Facebook post that due to a sudden influx of dogs from the public who have tested positive with parvo, the shelter has been exposed and will be closed June 27th and 28th.
“To ensure the safety and health of all our animals and staff, we will be closed today and tomorrow as we take necessary measures to address the situation. All of the exposed dogs and puppies will be transferred to a partner rescue where they can be monitored and treated if necessary,” according to the social media post on Thursday morning.
“If you have inquired about fostering, we have placed those requests on hold for the safety of your pets and the health of our shelter pets. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and hope for your understanding.”
In light of this, the Ross County Humane Society is strongly encourage you to vaccinate your pets according to a veterinary-approved schedule to keep them and the shelter dogs protected.
