Local DAR Chapter Pays Tribute At Patriot Sites in Washington DC

Thirty six members of the Nathaniel Massie Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and six friends traveled to Washington DC to visit the DAR museum, Mount Vernon, the Capitol Building, The People’s House, and the American History Museum. 

“We did a wreath laying at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington Cemetery and laid a wreath on Washington’s tomb at Mt. Vernon”, according to Terressa Reep. “All of this was very emotional for all involved. I really don’t know what to say. It was just amazing, to actually be a participant in an event that you have witnessed all of your life. It was one of the proudest moments of my life.  I don’t know what to say.  I hope you can figure out a way to tell the community that we  proudly represented all of Ross County with true pride in our country.”

“The local DAR laid a wreath on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery. “We were there representing all of Ross County. where we are so proud to be from. A wreath with a banner declared the chapter. Regent Terressa Reep, Vice Regent Connie Meyer, Registrar Julie Dyke and Navy Veteran Carol LaGore represented the chapter  in the wreath laying ceremony. Over 100 people. including 34 members of the Nathaniel Massie Chapter and six guests were present at the 1pm ceremony.”

Upon arrival at the cemetery the four previously named were briefed on the procedure of the ceremony.

The group also raised the flag at the opening ceremony at Mt. Vernon, home of George Washington and presented a wreath laying ceremony at Washington’s tomb.
