State Tourney Tennis Run Ends For Area Players

Article Presented By Adena Health…

Opening day at the 2024 OHSAA Girls State Tennis Tournament at The College of Wooster was short-lived Thursday for players from three area schools. One player advanced to the second round, with the others falling in first round action.

Chillicothe senior Bella Flores won her opening match in the Division 1 Singles 6-7, 6-3, 6-3 over Jillian To of Whitehouse Anthony Wayne. Round 2 was not so kind to the Lady Cavs sensation as Flores saw her season come to a close in a 6-4, 6-3 loss to Anna Mancino of Rocky River Magnificat. Flores went unbeaten throughout the regular season, winning FAC “Player of the Year” honors.

In Division 2 Singles, Waverly’s Claire Morrison dropped her opening round match 6-0, 6-0 to Abigail Lynch of Gates Mills Gilmour Academy. Morrison also had a great season as she is the SOC 2 “Player of the Year”

Logan Elm’s Doubles team of Ally Berger & Kaylee Ross were also shutout in straight sets to Lily Guiler & Adele Tokmazeysky of Pepper Pike Orange in Division 2.
