Danville Ends Record Breaking Eastern Eagles Football Season In Regional Final

(Logan) – The longest OHSAA football playoff run in Eastern Pike’s history came to an end at Logan High School Friday as the Eagles fell to the (12-2) Danville Devils 40-6. The Eagles conclude their record setting season as Division 7/Region 27 Runner-Up with a (13-1) record.
The Devils pounced on Eastern early, scoring less than two minutes into the contest when Cyren Wallace capitalized on a short-field once play drive at 10:15 in the first quarter on a 27 yard run. The two-point conversion made it 8-0 Danville.
Danville forced Eastern to punt and scored five plays later at 5:45 in the period. The PAT was no good, but the Devils were up 14-0.
Their lead increased to 22-0 with :16 left in the first quarter when Danville quarterback Jacob Hackman scored on a keeper, which closed the first quarter.
Eastern’s Boston Webb picked off a Danville pass, but that came to naught when the Eagles fumbled on the next play and it was recovered by Danville. Despite that, Eastern’s Carson Peters would give the Eagles their lone score of the game when he went 90 yards on a pick-six at 6:06 to play on the second quarter to cut Danville’s lead to 22-6, as the PAT was missed.

Danville had one more score to put on the board in the second quarter as QB Jacob Hackman scored on a 1 yard run with :14 left in the half for a 28-6 margin at halftime.
The Devils added two more scores in the contest, with the next occurring at 6:43 of the third quarter when Aidan Burke works laterally into the end zone for a 34-6 advantage after the failed PAT.
Danville’s final tally of the game came with 11:35 remaining in the contest when Aiden Burke scored on a TD run. The PAT was no good, but activated the non-stop clock the rest of the game and a Danville 40-6 final score. Eastern 6.
Eastern season is one for the books, as they are SOC Champ and Regional Runner-Up.
