Zane Trace Outshoots Southeastern in SVC Boys Basketball Win

(8-1/11-2) Zane Trace shot over 60% in each of their first three quarters in a 57-42 home victory over (4-5/9-6) Southeastern Friday night, before cooling off in the final period, finishing at 54% for the contest.
The Pioneers trailed 2-0 to start the game, but led the rest of the game with leads at each stop: 20-10, 37-14, 49-28, and 57-42. The second quarter was a major difference in the contest as ZT outscored the Panthers 17-4 with Southeastern shooting 1/11 for only 9% in that period.
The Panthers showed grit in the second half, forcing 11 of Zane Trace’s 15 turnovers for the game, and shaved a 23 point deficit to the final margin of 15.
Zane Trace had three players in double figures, led by the Litter Media Radio’s “McDonald’s Player of the Game”, Landon Robinson with 16 points. Gunnar McCullough added 13 points and 8 rebounds, Grady Stewart 12, Landen Jarrell 9, Noah Houston 4, and Ezra Rippeth with 3 points.
Southeastern was led by Gage Cheadle’s 13 points, Joey Pfeifer scored 11 points, then Carter Fisher 7, Lane Williams 6, Brevin Strausbaugh 3, and Brayden Burns with 2 points.
The Pioneers shot 23/42 from the field- including 9/21 from the arc for 54%. They added 2/3 from the foul line, grabbed 21 rebounds and committed 15 turnovers.
The Panthers were 15/42 from the floor- including 5/11 from the arc for 36%. They were 7/11 from the charity stripe, hauled down 15 rebounds and committed 11 turnovers.
Zane Trace remains 1/2 game behind (9-1) Unioto for the SVC lead, as the Shermans avenged an earlier season loss to Westfall 50-43.
