Fairfield Union Win Over Circleville Clinches MSL Buckeye Title Share For Hamilton Twp

Article Presented By Adena Health…

Fairfield Union used a 21-6 third quarter to break open a close game for a 51-35 victory at Circleville Thursday night. The Falcons win handed the Tigers their third conference loss, which enables (9-0) Hamilton Township to clinch no worse than a share of the MSL Buckeye Boys Basketball crown. Fairfield Union stands at (7-3) in the league, as does Circleville.

The Rangers can win the title outright when they host Circleville Saturday.

Circleville took off for a 13-7 lead late in the first quarter, but the Falcons closed on a 5-0 run to cut the deficit to 13-12 to close the period. In the second quarter, Circleville last held a lead at 20-17, before Fairfield Union closed on another 5-0 run for a 22-20 lead at halftime.

That momentum continued for the Falcons in the third quarter when they completely took control of the game with that 21-6 stanza. Litter Media Radio’s “McDonald’s Player of the Game” was 6’4 freshman Asa Kline, who scored 11 points and grabbed 5 rebounds, with 9 of those points coming in the first half sprint where Fairfield Union started to turn the game’s direction.

Six other Fairfield Union players got into the scoring column, led by Keegan Arnett’s 13 points and 5 rebounds. Isaiah DeLong added 8 points, Jaxson Iser 7 points, Trevor Utzinger 5, Keaton Webb 4, and Mason Ailes finished with 3 points.

The Tigers were led by Riley Jenkins with 12 points, Kole Nungester 10, Blain Fowler and Ed Kirk each scored 6 points, and Kiser Cassidy had 1 point.

Both teams are (7-3) in the MSL, with Fairfield Union (11-6) overall and Circleville (10-6).
