Bowling: Westfall’s Carter Advances to DII State, Washington & Whiteoak Win District Team Titles

The Washington Boys and Whiteoak Girls were the winners of Monday’s Division II Bowling District Tournament at Shawnee Lanes, qualifying them for the OHSAA State Tournament.

Wellston’s Scott Davis and Brianna Carter of Westfall qualified for state as the top individual bowlers not on a qualifying team. Davis rolled a 709 for the day and Walker scored a 636 to top the girls.

In the Boys matches, Mason Mullins paced the Blue Lions attack with a 624 ahead of teammates Miles Payne (604), Nick Walker (602) and Randon Stolzenburg (536). Washington finished ahead of Lynchburg-Clay, third place Westfall and Zane Trace. 

The LC Mustangs also placed second in the Girls team competition followed by Eastern Brown and Gallia Academy.

The State Tournament is hosted by HP Lanes on Innis Road in Columbus, beginning with the DII Girls on Friday, February 28 and the Boys on Saturday, March 1. The DI tournament rolls the following weekend.

Southeast schools are combined with the East District schools for the DI Sectional beginning Wednesday, February 26th at Coshocton’s Legacy Lanes. The Boys teams from Chillicothe, Circleville, Hillsboro, Jackson, Logan and Miami Trace. The Girls tournament includes Chillicothe, Circleville, Hillsboro, Jackson, Logan, McClain, Miami Trace, Unioto and Washington.

The DI Sectional Tournament for Girls featuring Lancaster and Teays Valley begins Thursday in the Central District while the Golden Gales and Vikings Boys will bowl on Saturday. Both will be played at HP Lanes.
