Logan Elm Tops at Gallia Academy 1 Sectional
Logan Elm won the D-II Gallia Academy 1 Sectional ahead of second place Sheridan. The top four individuals in each weight class from the two Gallia Academy Sectionals will advance to the District tournament at Steubenville High School February 28 and March 1. Champions by weight class were:
Jackson’s Braiden McGinnins at 106 over Logan Elm’s Cayden McFarland. Third place went to Seth Johnson of Sheridan over Lucas Farmer of Vinton County.
Logan Elm’s Dawsen Hudson at 113 over Cash Owen of Sheridan. Taking third was Ty Heath of Athens over Hillsboro’s Landon Frazier.
Sheridan’s Maddox Laymon defeated Ben Counts of Athens at 120. Finishing third was Jude Palmer of Logan Elm taking a bye.
Vinton County’s Travis Bucklew over Warren’s Dylan Legletner at 126. Logan Elm’s Blaine Holzschuh defeated Kylan Brown of Hillsboro for third.
Gavin Hoover of Logan Elm won the 132 beating Lukas Brown from Jackson. Marietta’s Braxton Wells was third beating Ryan Grosselin of Warren.
138 went to Evan Warren from Gallia Academy beating Devon Barnes of Athens. Logan Elm’s David Little was third ahead of Reme Fairbanks of Warren.
Wyatt Warren from Gallia Academy took 144 over Luke Skinner of Sheridan. Hillsboro’s Ryan Burns placed third ahead of Nehemiah Hess from Logan Elm.
At 150, Simon Inboden of Athens defeated Sheridan’s Logan Householder. Bryson Parish of Logan Elm was third with Jackson’s Jensen Greene fourth.
Sheridan’s Coltyn Reedy pinned Isaiah Roberts of Athens at 157. Jackson’s Dylan Peterson was third with Logan Elm’s Cooper Disbennett fourth.
Athens’ Luke Kaiser defeated Jackob Householder from Sherida for 165. Enoch Patterson from Gallia Academy placed third over Zach Carver of Marietta.
At 175, Aiden Strahler from Warren defeated Sheridan’s Thad Nikodym. Marietta’s Jacon Chovan was the third place finisher ahead of Damon Farmer from Athens.
Warren’s Eric Carr won 190 over Marietta’s Eli Vessels. Bryce Perkins from Logan Elm was third beating Connor Nichols from Gallia Academy.
Vinton County’s Roy Kirkendall pinned Logan Elm’s Jeffrey Thompson at 215. Third went to Jackson’s Hunter Site over Gage Moore from Sheridan.
Logan Elm’s Conner Green was the 285 champ, beating Jackson’s Grant Kennedy. Zack Ramsey from Vinton County took third over Marietta’s Teddy Bauer.
Miami Trace Wins Gallia Academy 2 Sectional

Ashton Thurman of New Lexington over Unioto’s Reed Bauer for 106. Circleville’s Drace Johnson was third over Chillicothe’s Brandon Chapman.
James Sharp of New Lexington too 113 over Westfall’s Dax Tanner. Bradley Forsythe from Washington placed third ahead of Circleville’s Kevin Downing.
Lyric Dickerson of Miami Trace won 120 over Fairfield Union’s Colton Borah. Westfall’s Brady Speakman was third ahead of Gunner Patton of New Lexington.
At 126, Mythias Stuckey from Miami Trace defeated Westfall’s Bryson Campfield. Finishing third place was Unioto’s Michael Gibson over A,J, Bowers from Fairfield Union.
Chillicothe’s Cannan Smith won 132 in a pin of New Lexington’s Hunter Hinkle. Quinton Marine of Miami Trace was third ahead of Talon Freese of Washington.
Tyson Spicer of New Lexington defeated Miami Trace’s Will Enochs for 138. Cooper Heidler from Washington took third over Fairfield Union’s Lane Farmer.
At 144, Harrison Ratliff of New Lexington pinned Brice Perkins from Miami Trace. Wyatt Ward of Westfall placed third ahead of Jared Rivera from Washington.
Washington’s Malachi McCullough defeated Mason Rider from New Lexington for 150. In third was Miami Trace’s Gabriel Carson over Westfall’s Eli Mcpeak.
Taking 157 was Miami Trace’s Garrett Carson over Dalyus Nealy of New Lexington. Braxton Lenhart of Fairfield took third over Circleville’s Kaiden Boyer.
Tyler Stevens from Miami Trace won 165 over New Lexington’s Nathan Gottke. Weley Gibbs was third ahead of Abran Cotrill of Fairfield Union.
At 175, Mack Parsley from Washington defeated Ethynn Munro from Miami Trace. In third was Westfall’s Eli Wright with Chase Shriner of New Lexington fourth.
190 went to Chillicothe’s Zach Janes over John Holderby of Westfall. Miami Trace’s Landan St. Clair was third defeating Washington’s Brendan Peters.
Waverly’s Pee Wee Tolliver defeated Westfall’s Wes Moats for the 215 crown. Miami Trace’s John Queen was third ahead of Washington’s Pheonix Williams.
Miami Trace’s Joshua McGraw took 285 over Circleville’s Caihden Morgan. Russ Colahan of Westfall beat Chillicothe’s Connor Rutherford for third.
Huntington Places 3rd Behind River Valley & Nelsonville-York at Alexander Sectional

At the D-III Sectional at Alexander High School, River Valley was the overall winner ahead of Nelsonville-York and Huntington. 106, Urijah Milliken of Nelsonville-York over Chesapeake’s Bryce Myers. Third place went to River Valley’s Logan Parcell over Ironton’s Mason Daniels.
Reedsville Eastern’s Kyler Basham won 113 over Alexander’s Joseph Torres. Manchester’s Colton Arnett was third ahead of Liam Almekinder from Ironton.
West Union’s Ethan Cantrell took 120 over Alexander’s Landyn Wandling. Aden Breniser of Huntington placed third ahead of River Valley’s Memphis Robinson.
At 126, C.J. Graham of Fairland defeated Raiden Boney from Nelsonville-York. Huntington’s Jimmy Sexton was third ahead of West Union’s Ethan Wheeler.
Nate Sloan of Ironton won 132 over Waterford’s Kameron Johnson. David Jackson of River Valley defeated Trimble’s Blayne Williams for third.
Holden Hodgson of Nelsonville-York took 138 ahead of Trimble’s Mason Hart. Finishing third was Huntington’s Gordon Cyrus over Meigs’ Jacob Roblero.
Phillip Hash of River Valley won 144 by pinning Brandon Handley of Nelsonville-York. Landen Basham of Reedsville Eastern place third over Trimble’s Bentley Riley.
Huntington’s Alex Breniser pinned Trevin Zimmer of Waterford for the 157 title. Third was River Valley’s Morgan Hash over Mason Giffin of Nelsonville-York.
Hayden Jones of Waterford won the 157 class over Adena’s Austyn McWhorter. Tanner Young from River Valley was third over Fairland’s Zachary Burdine.
At 165, Budder Manley from River Valley defeated Paint Valley’s Logan Hamlin. Adena’s David Warner defeated Gavin Proffitt from Meigs for third.
Waterford’s Colten Jones won 175 over Huntington’s Carson McNeal. Wellston’s Hunter Collins placed third ahead of River Valley’s Levi Wood.
At 190, Will Callicoat from Fairland defeated Huntington’s Jackson McNeal. Gavin Smith of Reedsville Eastern took third ahead of Brendan Barnes of Manchester.
Colton Ward from Trimble took 215 over Ironton’s Braden Barbour. River Valley’s Wyatt McPherson was third over Huntington’s Ernie Cyrus.
285 went to Cadon Riley of Waterford over Nelsonville-York’s Will Odenthal. Chesapeake’s Chris Caulderon won third over Adena’s Chase Trivette.
Teays Valley Places 2nd At Watkins-Memorial Sectional
Teays Valley placed second as a team behind Olentangy Berlin in the D-I Meet at Watkins Memorial. Champions for the Vikings were John Todhunter (113), Josh Zimmer (120) and Aiden Kennedy (175). Runners up were Trevor Bridges (106), Carson Hix (132), Peter Graham (190) and Tristian Graham (285). Also advancing to the District with fourth place finishes, Andrew Liddel (150) and Rhett Turner (157).
Jackson Girls Take Title at Gallia Academy Sectional
In the Girls Southeast Sectional, Jackson took the top spot with a 156.5 score ahead of Warren and Washington CH as the top three teams. Jackson’s Makennah Craft continued her domination of the 100-pound weight class. The defending state champ pinned Hillsboro’s Miley Messer in just 52-seconds. Third place went to Lilah Carson of New Lexington over Warren’s Isabella Wilson.
Washington’s Leah Marine won 105 in a victory over December Johnson from Alexander. Jackson’s Piper Gentry took third over Bri Hall of Meigs.
Adena’s Kayla Grooms topped 110 by outscoring Sheridan’s Addyson Crane 19-13. Emma Grosselin of Warren defeated Alexander’s Grace Ford for third.
115 was won by Washington’s Lyndyn Gibbs in a pin of Warren’s Emma Gorrell. Third place went to River Valley’s Zoe Vore over Lexie Burns of McClain.
Laila Wentz of Chesapeake defeated Chillicothe’s Alyssa Hicks in 120. Taking third was Kendra Hescht of Warren over Jackson’s Lily Ervin.
Miami Trace’s Jayda Jones won the 125 class over Jocelyn Malone of Alexander. Third went to Isabella Bowser of Athens over New Lexington’s Rachelle Kimble.
Kaylee Scott of Washington took Warren’s Jade Fairbanks in 130. Jackson’s Summer Dickerson was third over Kileah Lieras-Kelley of Marietta.
Logan’s Brooklyn Whited won the 135 over Marietta’s Irene Belin. Third went to Mehan Kauff from Meigs over West Union’s Cheyenne Gross.
Abby Green of Waverly won the 140 with a major decision over Warren’s Trinidee McKenzie. Jackson’s Madilynn Riddle pinned Kat Kaomi for third.
Westfall’s Savannah Holderby took the 145 in a pin over Southeastern’s Isabelle Mesaris, Kaylynn Hays of Washington defeated Jackson’s Isabella Harris of Jacson for third.
At 155, Emma Putnam of Reedsville Eastern pinned Alyssa Spears of New Lexington. Third went to Gallia Academy’s Sadie Cummons over Callie Anderson of Piketon.
River Valley’s Grace Engle defeated Jackson’s Carolynn Cox in the 170. Janessa Ayler from Washington defeated Mystic Riffle of Gallia Academy for third.
Olivia Beaulieu of New Lexington pinned Warren’s Alivia Russell at 190. Finishing third was Marietta’s Emma Murphy over Kaidance Griffiths of Jackson.
West Union’s Alexis Cowan pinned McClain’s K.C. Foster at 235. Zoey Massie from Miami Trace took third over Abby Daughty of New Lexington.
