
Unioto Storms To District Final With 60-44 Win Over Fairfield Union

(21-3) Unioto trailed only once in their convincing 60-44 Boys Division 4 District Semifinal victory over (12-12) Fairfield Union Falcons Tuesday at Southeastern High School’s Larry Jordan Gymnasium. That lone lead was at 7-5 in the first quarter, but by the end of that period the Shermans had built an 18-11 advantage which grew in size from there. Unioto was up 35-18 at halftime, 47-31 after three before settling for the 60-44 final. The Tanks biggest lead was 21 on two separate occasions.

Three Shermans finished in double figures, led by Blake Hoops’ 16 points, Caden Cutright with 15, Blake Fitch 13, Isaac Coy 7, K.B. Perkins 6, and Jaxon Zickafoose with 2. Hoops and Perkins were named Litter Media Radio’s “McDonald’s Players of the Game.”
Fairfield Union was led by Sophomore Mason Ailes’ 11 points. Keegan Arnett closed his career with 10 points, freshman Asa Kline scored 7 points, Isaiah Delong and Jaxson Iser each had 6 points, while Keaton Webb and Hunter Clark each has 2 points.
Unioto shot 24/49 from the field- including 5/13 from the arc for 49%. They added 7/11 from the charity stripe, grabbed 16 rebounds and committed 5 turnovers.
Fairfield Union shot 17/40 from the field- including 5/15 from the arc for 43%. They were 5/7 from the foul line, hauled down 22 rebounds and committed 15 turnovers.
Unioto advances to the district final at 8:15pm Thursday vs Waverly, following their 51-49 upset over Jackson. Thursday’s game is at the Ohio University Convocation Center, which will be broadcast on Litter Media Radio.
