TYKMA Electrox receives a check for $18,150 for development

Southern Ohio Companies Receive Grants for Expansion Projects

Article Presented By Rathkamp Financial…

(Southern Ohio) – Two area businesses have received grant funds to assist them in expansion projects that will retain jobs and create new positions. The funding comes from Fluor-BWXT and the Joint Economic Development Initiative of Southern Ohio.

TYKMA Electrox has been providing industrial laser engraving systems worldwide for more than 50 years. The permanent marking distributor, located in Ross County, hopes to expand its business and add six new positions by purchasing a hand-held 3D scanner and measuring machine.

Fluor and JEDISO support small businesses in the four-county region through Opportunity Fund grants and recently presented TYKMA with $18,150 to help the business expand.

“The entire project involves a $73,000 capital investment,” said TYKMA Managing Director, Donnie Igou. “This grant will get us closer to our goal of retaining 49 jobs and creating six new positions, as well as strengthen our position in the marketplace.”

As part of Fluor-BWXT’s community commitment, significant economic investments are being made in the region through FBP’s partnership with JEDISO. The goal is to create and retain jobs for a sustainable and strong economy in Jackson, Pike, Ross, and Scioto counties. Since 2011, FBP has provided more than $5.5 million in economic grants–creating and retaining thousands of jobs in the four-county region.

“It is great to see a small business like this continue to grow and provide jobs to our community,” said FBP Community Commitment Chair, Tim Poe. “As they succeed, so does the community around them. It is a win-win.”

Another local company to receive a development grant is the Murphy Hoffman Corporation (MHC), which was presented with $12,850 to aid in the company’s growth and development.

“This couldn’t have come at a better time,” said MHC President and CEO, John Horn. “We recently launched a new business line called MHC Road Force and this grant will help us continue to expand.”

The Murphy-Hoffman Company is a multi-state network of Kenworth dealers that provides more than 50,000 customers with a full range of truck-related services. MHC Road Force is the company’s latest extension, creating dump truck beds.

“To expand we need to purchase a crane hoist and position equipment,” Horn continued. “This new product line will strengthen the Ross County economy by serving Kenworth and other brands in the area.”

“This company has doubled the number of employees and continues to foster a strong economic development presence,” said FBP Community Commitment Chair, Tim Poe. “We are pleased to provide this grant to support the acceleration of success.”

“The underlying force here is being the go-to for resources in each of the counties we represent,” said Tammy Eallonardo, director of Greater Chillicothe and Ross County Development. “This localizes our approach to the growth in our area while still allowing us to share resources across the four counties to boost the creation and retention of jobs.”
