Highland County Health Offers Dumpster Days To Public

(Hillsboro) – The Highland County Health Department has scheduled SIX Dumpster Days Events for 2025.

As the weather warms up, it’s the perfect time to shake off the winter blues and dive into some good old-fashioned spring cleaning—whether it’s your garage, basement, attic, shed, or backyard! To make it easier for you to clear out the clutter, we’re excited to host our FREE Dumpster Days events again this year!

  • April 15 & 16, 2025 from 9am-4pm at the Highland Cunty Health Department
  • May 20 & 21, 2025 from 9am-4pm at the Greenfield location of Highland County Community Action Organization
  • June 17 & 18, 2025 from 9am-4pm at the Highland Holiday Dump
  • July 15 & 16, 2025 from 9am-4pm at the Lynchburg Sewer Treatment Plant
  • August 19 & 20, 2025 from 9am-4pm at the Mowrystown Fire Station
  • September 16 & 17 , 2025 from 9am-4pm at the Highland County Health Department

“We will have TWO dumpsters at each event! These are first come, first serve events!  Once the dumpsters are full, the event will be finished.  Follow our Facebook page for updates!”, according to their Environmental Health office.

“Bring your unwanted junk, broken furniture, yard waste, and other non-hazardous household items—we’ll take care of the rest. This is your chance to tidy up and make space without the hassle, and is FREE!”

What to bring: Old furniture, boxes, yard debris, general trash

What not to bring: Concrete, Rocks, Bricks, Batteries, Auto Parts, Tires, Liquids, Chemicals, Appliances, or Electronics, Hazardous Waste, Asbestos.
