
Chillicothe Halts Waverly Tennis 113 Match Win Streak

The Chillicothe Boys Tennis team ended one of the longest regular season high school winning streaks in southern Ohio Tuesday with a 3-2 match win over Waverly. The Cavs victory stopped the Tigers’ 113 match regular season winning streak, which dates back several years.
The match was tied at (2-2) and came down to first doubles, which saw J.B. Maravilla and Elijah Yandilla lost the first set 4-6, but then fought back to win the next two sets 6-1, 6-3 to seal the victory.
In the #1 singles match, Chillicothe’s Noah Flores defeated Carson Nibert 6-2, 4-6, 6-1.
The #2 singles went to Waverly’s Sam Walsh, who beat Chillicothe’s Aeden Montalvo 6-0, 6-0.
At number three singles, the Tigers’ Cade Carroll took down Yohan Abreu 6-3, 6-1 3-6.
The #2 doubles of Malachi Upshaw and Benjamin Yandila defeated Waverly’s Micah Lehew and Jasper Price 6-0, 6-3, which led to the Maravilla/Yandila clincher.
Overall, Chillicothe improves to (3-2) on the season and will now play at Hillsboro in an FAC match Thursday.
