(Chillicothe) – A significant moment that played a role in Paul Revere’s Ride from the early days of the American Revolution was recollected during a historical reenactment in front of the Ross County Courthouse Friday evening. Over 70 citizens witnessed the event and the two lanterns in the steeple of the Carlisle Building (not the North Church).
The event was the imitative of the American Association of County Commissioners and communities across the country were encouraged to acknowledge April 18, 1775 as we begin the journey of celebrating the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.

The Joseph Ogle Ohio Company of the Virginia Militia portrayed colonial businessmen discussing what was going on April 18th in Boston. The gentlemen gave the audience the perspective of business men speculating the effect on the economy if they went to war with England.
The local event was organized by the Nathaniel Massie Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Residents and businesses throughout the community placed two candles in their windows to commemorate the event.
Mark your calendars now for June 21, 2026 for another major celebration in Ross County, that will be announced later.
