(Ross County) – The Ross County Commissioners have announced the commencement of a significant runway rehabilitation and construction of two blast pads at Ross County’s Shoemaker Airport (KRZT). Runway 5/23 will be shut down to all air traffic beginning May 4, 2025 through approximately July 7, 2025 (As long as the weather cooperates).
“Ross County has been the recipient of FAA and ODOT grant funds for a number of years which has allowed us to make millions of dollars of improvements to our county airport, only using a small amount of county funds,” according to the Ross County Commisisoners. While we are aware this disruption of service will be an inconvenience to our aviation community, the outcome will significantly improve your flying experience to and from the Ross County Shoemaker Airport.”
Once construction begins, aircraft will not be permitted to take off or land at the Ross County Shoemaker Airport. Hangar lessees shall not be obligated to pay rent during the time the Airports runway is out of service for construction.
“Good flying weather is just around the corner and we understand how frustrating this may be. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to making more improvements to enhance your flying experience.”
