Southeastern Makes School History With First District Baseball Crown
Article Presented By The Outdoor Drama “Tecumseh!”
Southeastern’s Joey Pfeifer twirled a two-hitter in leading the Panthers to their first-ever district baseball championship in a 2-1 Division 6 decision Sunday over Waterford at VA Memorial Stadium.
The Panthers scored single runs in the fourth and fifth innings for a 2-0 lead, which held-up until Waterford plated their lone run in the bottom of the seventh inning, stranding the potential tying run at third, as Pfeifer fanned the final batter in the contest.
An RBI single by Carson McWhorter got the Panthers offense on the scoreboard in the top of the fourth inning, then added one run in the fifth when Gage Cheadle dashed home on a wild pitch.
Winning pitcher Joey Pfeifer struck out seven Wildcats in the contest, yielding only two hits.
Southeastern advances to the Division 6 Regional Semifinals at Lancaster’s Beaver Field June 4th at 6pm.
