Panthers Dream Post-Season Continues To Elite 8 With Shutout of Eastern Meigs

Article Presented By Pickaway Ross CTC Adult Education…

The Southeastern Panthers continue to play their best baseball of the 2025 season at just the right time. The (16-10) Panthers blanked Southeast District D-6 top seed Eastern Meigs 6-0 Wednesday in the Regional Semi at Lancaster’s Beavers Field.

The Panthers came roaring out of the gate with one run in the first inning after an RBI single by Coleton Baxter scored Gage Cheadle for a 1-0 lead. The Panthers then crossed the plate three times in the second for a 4-0 advantage when Cheadle drove-in Lane Williams for a 2-0 advantage, followed by a Baxter double to score Cheadle for 3-0, then Baxter scored on an Eastern Meigs fielding error for a 4-0 margin after two innings.

Southeastern added single runs in the fifth and seventh inning, as Landon Brown’s RBI single scored Carson McWhorter for 5-0. The top of the 7th netted SE’s final run of the day when Drew Leach doubled, then scored on McWhorter’s hit for a 6-0 lead, which would be the game final score.

Coleton Baxter and Drew Leach each went 2 for 4 at the plate. McWhorter gained the win on the mound, shutting the Eagles out while scattering 4 Eastern Meigs hits over 7 innings.

Southeastern will face state powerhouse Berlin Hiland at 6pm Thursday at Beavers Field. The Hiland Hawks advanced with an 11-4 win over West Jefferson.
