(Chillicothe) – On Wednesday, July 16, 2025, Pixelle, owner and operator of the paper mill in Chillicothe, will be hosting a job fair for its employees impacted by the plant’s recently announced closure. The job fair will be held at Ohio University Chillicothe’s campus inside the Shoemaker Center from 1:30pm to 4:30pm.
Pixelle employees are invited to attend the event as a chance to connect with regional employers and workforce development services. Employees can use the allotted time to seek new employment opportunities and resources, such as training. It also gives local employers a chance to meet with and potentially hire local employees that will be displaced due to the Pixelle closure.
The event is being organized in partnership by several local and regional organizations including the Area 20 Workforce Development Board (WDB), OhioMeansJobs (OMJ) of South Central Ohio, the Ross County Chamber of Commerce, OhioSE, and JobsOhio in cooperation with Pixelle. The event is only open to Pixelle employees.
Other job seekers can always visit their local OMJ Center to learn about job opportunities. “We want to ensure that these skilled workers have access to new opportunities as well as the support they need to transition smoothly,” said Rick Szabrak, Executive Director of the Area 20 WDB. “This job fair is a chance for both Pixelle employees and employers from across the region to network and find the right fit for themselves or their company. The OMJ Centers throughout the region will also be there to help these employees through this transition.” This is a tough situation for all involved, but it’s been great to see organizations throughout Scioto Valley step up to help these employees. Pixelle’s leadership has been very helpful in organizing this event for their employees,” Szabrak added.
Production at the Pixelle plant is scheduled to end on August 10, 2025. Employers interested in attending the job fair are encouraged to register online to secure a table.
