OU Chillicothe Invites Alumni to Celebrate 30 Years of Nursing Education

(Chillicothe) – Ohio University-Chillicothe will host a special alumni gathering on Saturday, October 4th, 2025, from 4pm-8pm to celebrate 30 years of excellence in nursing education. The anniversary event will commemorate a legacy built on compassion, dedication and transformative care.

This event will bring together alumni, students, faculty and community partners to honor the history of nursing education at OHIO Chillicothe and celebrate the nurses who provide critical care in their communities.

Guests will enjoy an uplifting evening with special tributes to the people and moments that have shaped three decades of nursing education in Chillicothe. The program will include campus tours, a catered dinner and presentation, along with networking and music.

“Nursing students at OHIO Chillicothe graduate with the knowledge, skills and support they need to pursue their passions for caring for others,” said Lindsey Shotts, interim associate director of the School of Nursing at Ohio University Chillicothe. “We get to watch students build the confidence and expertise to succeed and become cornerstones in their communities. We can’t wait to gather and celebrate our nursing alumni.”

Since its founding in 1995, the nursing program at OHIO Chillicothe has prepared more than 500 compassionate and skilled healthcare professionals who serve communities in southcentral Ohio and beyond. The anniversary celebration will feature guest speakers, alumni spotlights, refreshments, campus tours and opportunities to reconnect with classmates and faculty.

“This milestone is a powerful reflection of the commitment our students, faculty, alumni and community partners have shown in advancing healthcare in our region,” said Mike Lafreniere, interim dean of campus and community relations at OHIO Chillicothe. “For 30 years, our nursing program has shaped compassionate professionals who make a real difference in people’s lives. We’re proud to honor that legacy and excited to welcome our alumni back to campus to celebrate the future of nursing education at OHIO Chillicothe.”

The event will take place on the campus of Ohio University Chillicothe and is open to all nursing alumni and supporters of the program. Event registration closes on Sept. 20, at 11:59pm.
