
Amanda CC Hands Circleville First Gridiron Loss of 2025

The tough schedule (2-3) Amanda Clearcreek played in their first four games paid off in “Aces” Friday night, defeating MSL Buckeye foe Circleville 31-14. It was the Tigers first loss of the season.

Amanda CC rolled up 403 total yards with all but five of those being on the ground. Tommy Stai chewed-up 232 rushing yards on 29 carries while scoring two touchdowns- earning him being named the Litter Media Radio “McDonald’s Player of the Game.” The Aces defense held the Tigers to 221 total yards with only 89 on the ground. Circleville’s Hudson Phalin threw for 12/22 for 132 yards.
Amanda CC scored first quarter touchdowns on a 17 yard run by Bodie Martin to cap off a 69 yard/9 play drive, followed by a 38 yard run by Tommy Stai to conclude an 86 yard/7 play drive. That 14-0 lead increased to 17-0 to close the half when Hayden Dunn kicked a 39 yard field goal for the three score lead heading into halftime.
The second half saw no letup by the Aces, going 53 yards in 5 plays on an 18 yard TD run by Martin for a 24-0 advantage.
Circleville got on the board thanks to an Amanda CC fumble, which the Tigers capitalized on with a 47 yard/5 play drive with Hudson Phalin scoring on a 4 yard run to make it 24-7. Circleville cut the deficit to 24-14, thanks to a Phalin-to-Jack Kline 37 yard scoring pass that concluded a 90 yard/10 play drive at 10:53 remaining in the game. But, the Aces put the nail in the coffin with an 88 yard/13 play scoring drive when Stai ran it in from 4 yards out for the 31-14 final.
As well as the Aces played, they were hurt by 12 penalties for 105 yards.
Amanda CC faces Hamilton Township next Friday, after the Rangers fell to Buckeye Valley 42-14. Circleville will try to bounce back in their game in a non conference contest with Marietta.
