(Portsmouth) – Shawnee State’s Spring Semester course schedule will include a range of general education course offerings and graduate business courses at the new Chillicothe Location.
The expansion is the next step in the educational partnership announced in October 2024 between SSU and Adena Health to meet the growing demand for health professionals in the region.
“SSU and Adena leaders have been building out the plan for the past year and we look forward to the first courses starting in January,” Christine Raber, Dean of the College of Health and Human Services, said.
Work is under way to obtain all external approvals necessary to offer degrees for in-demand health professions, including in Nursing, Radiologic Technology, as well as graduate-level business, at the PACCAR Medical Educational Center on Adena’s campus in Chillicothe.
“We anticipate these initial offerings starting in January with our regularly scheduled Spring Semester,” Raber said. “Additional course offerings will continue next year, along with the expansion of multiple programs.”
Science courses necessary for health professions programs are also planned at certain times at the Pickaway-Ross Career and Technology Center north of Chillicothe.
“Program leaders have been working through the regulatory and accreditation approvals as well as the logistics and scheduling process,” Raber said. “These initial course offerings are the first classes of many planned in this expansion.”
For students preparing their Spring 2026 schedule, course offerings will include the notation “CHIL” for course location and the appropriate room number at the PACCAR Center or Pickaway Ross CTC. The physical address of PACCAR and Pickaway Ross CTC will also be noted in course scheduling information.
Graduate courses from the C.H. Lute School of Business are also scheduled beginning in 2026. These include courses that are part of the Master’s in Business Administration degree program.
As the partnership continues, the Chillicothe Location is expected to eventually offer nursing and health professions programs.
