Boys Basketball: Eastern Wins at Western 48-35

Eastern earned a 48-35 win over Western Friday in a battle between two teams searching for consistency.

The Eagles saw Western come out of the gates with two quick baskets, but Eastern’s Carson Peters hit a pair of free throws to start a 16-0 run before the Indians’ Foster Davis stopped the bleeding early in the second period.
Western got baskets from Landen Owens and Josiah Satterfield to cut the Eagles’ lead to 18-13, but that’s all the closer they could get.
Boston Webb went on a tear, scoring ten of his 17-points over a span of seven minutes closing out the first half and starting the third period, expanding the Eagles’ lead to 32-20.
Eastern saw the Indians cut the margin to single digits just twice the remainder of the game.
“We knew that Western was gonna come out and give us their best effort” said Eastern’s Ethan Leist on Litter Media RADIO. “Teams like this (Western), they’re tough to play against. They’re a solid team. They play really solid defense. They guard you for 32 minutes. They got off to a good start, but I was proud of our guys. They didn’t let it shake them. We sat down, locked into our defensive game plan and we guarded really well.”
Aiden Werner and Peters scored 10-points apiece for the Eagles with Cade Leist and Eric Manley combining for another 11 as Eastern evened its record at 5-5 and 2-1 in the SOC II.
Satterfield led Western with 10-points while Davis and Landon Owens scored seven each, Brayden Jones had five while Baiden Taylor and Ja Barraquer had three points apiece. Barraquer, a Spanish foreign exchange student was playing in his first game with the Indians. Western is 3-5 and 1-2 in the conference. Eastern gets right back to action Saturday night in a home game with the Green Bobcats. Western is off until Tuesday when they host Portsmouth Notre Dame. Notre Dame (7-2) was a 45-44 winner over Green (5-5) Friday night.
