Weekend Wrestling Recap: Huntington Wins in Wellston

Wellston Invitational: Huntington topped the field of 25 teams wrestling in Wellston Saturday. Placing behind the Huntsmen, Warren was second and Amanda Clearcreek was third. Others from the area participating: Unioto was 12th, Vinton County tied host Wellston and Belpre for 15th, then Hillsboro and Chillicothe were 19th and 20th and Waverly was 24th. Huntington claimed two champions, Aden Breniser (144) and Carson McNeal (190). Amanda’s Max Miller (150) and Silas Hoffman (175) won championships and Vinton County’s Kaiden Swick won the 126 class. Logan Invitational: Delaware Hayes finished atop the team standings at the Logan Invite Saturday with Granville second and host Logan rounding out the top three. Adena placed 8th ahead of Fairfield Union. Paint Valley and Teays Valley finished 13th and 14th respectively. Adena’s Grady Hayden (157) and David Warner (165) won their weight classes. Logan Lady Chiefs Invitational: Licking Heights won the Girls Invitational Sunday. Marion Harding was the runner up with Teays Valley placing 3rd. Other local teams placing included Miami Trace 5th, Washington 6th, Logan 7th, Huntington was 12th, Circleville 14th, Logan Elm 17th, Amanda Clearcreek 18th, Liberty Union 22nd, Amanda Clearcreek tied for 23rd, Chillicothe 27th, Westfall 28th and Waverly 30th. Local individual champions included Washington’s Leah Marine (105) and Kaylee Scott (125), Huntington’s McKinzee Mills (120), and Logan’s Brooklyn Whited (140). SEE THE RESULTS FROM baumspage.com
