Dave Truex Named to MSL Hall of Fame Class of 2025

Circleville, OH — Dave Truex has dedicated his career to coaching, teaching, and supporting student-athletes in the Circleville community for over three decades. With an impressive background in multiple sports, his leadership and commitment have left a lasting impact on generations of athletes.

He spent 28 years as the head softball coach at Circleville, accumulating a remarkable 416-272 record while leading his teams to significant achievements, including a state runner-up finish in 2006, a state Final Four appearance in 2007, and regional appearances in 1998 and 2004. In addition to his success in softball, he served as the head baseball coach for 10 years, finishing with a 156-76 record. His coaching career also extended to football, where he spent three years as the head coach in Circleville and nine years as a head coach overall, compiling a 12-18 record at Circleville. His football coaching experience also includes 15 years as an assistant coach, 13 of which were at Circleville.

Beyond these roles, he spent three years as the head girls track coach at Zane Trace, one year as an assistant middle school wrestling coach, and one year as a middle school basketball head coach. His impact on athletics extended into administration, serving as the middle school athletic director from 1994 to 2010 before taking on the role of middle school and high school athletic director from 2010 to 2012. He also acted as the middle school liaison within the Mid-State League for 18 yeras.

In addition to his coaching and administrative contributions, he has been a dedicated supporter of Circleville High School athletics, serving as a ticket taker at most events for the past 11 years. His commitment to sports and education has been recognized through his induction into both the Circleville High School Athletic Hall of Fame and the Capital University Athletic Hall of Fame.

With 30 years of teaching experience across various grade levels and subjects, Dave Truex has shaped the lives of countless students both in and out of the classroom. His unwavering dedication to athletics, education, and the Circleville community continues to serve as an inspiration to all who have had the privilege of working with and learning from him.
