WASHINGTON COURT HOUSE, OH – The Adena Health Foundation has received a transformational $100,000 gift from Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 423 to support the Building a Brighter Future Campaign for the new Adena Fayette Medical Center (AFMC). The contribution — the largest single donation ever made by Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 423 — is the second gift of this magnitude received by the Foundation this year from a local community organization and will be recognized through naming of the hospital’s indoor dining area.
The dining area will serve as a welcoming space for patients, visitors, and staff, providing a place for connection, comfort, and respite within the new facility. Naming the space in honor of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 423 reflects the organization’s longstanding commitment to supporting the health and well-being of the community.
“This gift represents more than generosity — it reflects a deep-rooted belief in caring for neighbors and strengthening the future of health care in Fayette County,” said Laura Jo Hawk, Adena Health Foundation president. “Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 423 has demonstrated extraordinary leadership through this contribution, and their support will help create a healing environment that will leave a lasting impact on patients and families throughout our community.”
The Building a Brighter Future Campaign is helping bring to life a new, modern hospital designed to meet the evolving needs of the community. The 65,000-square-foot facility, currently under construction in Washington Court House, will replace the existing hospital and expand access to advanced medical services, including specialty care, robotic-assisted procedures, and enhanced spaces designed to improve the patient experience. The new hospital is expected to open in 2027.
“Having strong community partners like Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 423 is essential to making this vision a reality,” said Josh McCoy, Adena chief operating officer of acute and ancillary services. “Their generosity helps ensure families in Fayette County will continue to have access to high-quality care in a setting designed around their needs, comfort, and dignity.”
Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 423 is part of the broader Fraternal Order of Eagles, an organization of nearly 700,000 members across more than 1,400 locations in the United States and Canada. Guided by a longstanding commitment to helping neighbors and strengthening communities, the Eagles raise funds to support charitable causes and make a lasting impact where they serve.
“We are proud to support the new Adena Fayette Medical Center,” said Jason Flowers, president of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 423. “The FOE 423 lives by our motto ‘People Helping People,’ and to be part of something that will touch our entire community for generations to come is very meaningful to our organization and members.”
