Applications Open for Ross HEAP Summer Crisis Program

Article Presented By Adena Health…

(Ross CAC) – The Ohio Department of Development and Ross County Community Action Commission, Inc. will help income-eligible Ohioans stay cool during the hot summer months. The Home Energy Assistance Summer Crisis Program provides conditioning repairs. The program runs now through from September 30, 2024.

To apply for the program, clients must schedule an appointment with Ross County Community Action Commission, Inc. Appointments can be scheduled by calling (740) 702-7222, option 1 or online at https://rossccac.itfrontdesk.com.

Clients need to bring copies of the following documents to their appointment:

  • Copy of their most recent energy bill
  • A list of all household members and proof of income for each member’s last 30 days or 12 months.
  • Proof of U.S. citizenship or legal residency for all household members.
  • Proof of disability
  • Physician documentation that cooling assistance is needed for a household member’s health (if there isn’t a household member over the age of 60).

Ross County residents who have had their electric services disconnected or will have them disconnected within 24-48 hours are now eligible for Same-Day Appointments. To secure a same-day appointment, you must visit our office in person and bring all the required documents. We cannot schedule same-day appointments over the phone, and appointments are limited and given on a first-come, first-served basis.

When you arrive at our office at 250 North Woodbridge, you must sign in, and our receptionist will review your documents with you. Once the documentation is verified, you will be added to the same-day appointment list. We will try accommodating your desired time slot, but appointments are limited. We ask that all customers return to our office within 15 minutes of your time slot; if you’re late, we will move to the next person on the list, and you will need to return the next day.

There are limitations and some individuals may be asked to return the next day due to capacity.

Please note that same-day appointments are reserved for those disconnected or within 48 hours of disconnected energy services. Ross CAC is unable to provide same-day services for individuals who only need air conditioners or fans.
