Area Bridge Projects Have Public Comment Period

(Chillicothe) -As part of the Ohio Department of Transportation—District 9’s Planning Department, the district’s Environmental Office is seeking public input for a district-wide bridge rehabilitation project with locations in Brown, Highland, and Ross Counties.

D09-BH-FY2023 (PID 104886): It is proposed to rehabilitate seven bridges at five locations in District 9.

The first location is on U.S. 23 at the 19.42 mile mark in Ross County, Ohio. The rehabilitation of the two bridges at this location will include the patching of abutments with concrete and sealing the abutments with epoxy-urethane.

The second location is on U.S. 23 at the 21.05 mile mark in Ross County, Ohio. The rehabilitation of the two bridges at this location will include the patching of abutments with concrete and sealing the abutments with epoxy-urethane.

The third location is on S.R. 251 at the 2.37 mile mark in Brown County, Ohio. The rehabilitation of the bridge at this location will include the patching the pier cap with concrete and wrapping the pier cap with fiber wrap.

The fourth location is on S.R. 28 at the 7.57 mile mark in Highland County, Ohio. The rehabilitation of the bridge at this location will include the removal of loose casting and concrete from the pier piles and encasing the pier piles in concrete.

The fifth location is on U.S. 50 at the 28.66 mile mark in Ross County, Ohio. The rehabilitation of the bridge at this location will include the replacement of the strip seal expansion joints.

All roadways will be open during construction.

The project will not require new right-of-way.

No homes or businesses will be removed by the project.

The funding for the project is 100% State. The environmental commitment date is 8/26/2022. The project is currently expected to be awarded 5/8/2023.
