Unclaimed Funds are lost or forgotten money that businesses and banks report to the Division of Unclaimed Funds after accounts become inactive, typically between 3-5 years. The money comes from inactive checking and savings accounts, stocks and bonds, forgotten utility deposits, unknown insurance claims, or last paychecks.

Ohioans can safely, quickly, and easily find and claim their Unclaimed Funds at any time by taking three easy steps: 1) search for money at unclaimedfunds.ohio.gov; 2) gather the required supporting documents; and 3) send the information to the Division of Unclaimed Funds either online or by mail. If you need any additional assistance, the Division has a number of video resources available on our website here.
