Area Runners Advance Following District Cross Country Championships

High school cross country runners throughout Ohio took the next step toward their goal of reaching a state championship with district qualifications on Saturday, October 19th.
Chillicothe Boys Cross Country, competing in Division 1, finished one spot out of qualifying as a team in the District Meet. Jayden Beverly and Daniel Hurff finished in 11th and 13th, and will move on to the Regional Meet.
In the Southeast District, they award team championships to the top 2 teams in each division.
In Division 2, Fairfield Union ran away with the Division 2 Boys District team championship, followed by Warren, Unioto, Vinton County, Athens, Waverly, Wheelersburg, and Hillsboro. These teams along with the top 32 runners not on a qualifying team advance to the Regionals at Pickerington Saturday, October 26th. In the D-2 Girls District Meet, 7 teams advance to Regionals with Athens and Fairfield Union as district champs. Also advancing are Sheridan, Unioto, Warren, Waverly, and Chillicothe. Sophia Szolosi of Athens is the individual champ and her Athens teammate Andie Corrigan was 2nd. Division 3 Boys saw Rock Hill win the team title followed by Lynchburg-Clay. The rest of the top 7 teams to advance to regionals are Southern, Manchester, Waterford, Oak Hill, and South Webster. Whiteoak’s Landen Eyre is the individual champ, followed by Connor Nolan of Eastern Meigs. 28 individual runners not on a qualifying team advance to the Pickerington Regional next Saturday.
West Union won the girls Division 3 team title, followed by Manchester. The rest of the top five teams to advance to regionals include Adena, Eastern Brown, and Huntington. Addy Brown of Oak Hill won the individual title with Adena’s Vanessa Conley runner-up. 20 individual girls not on a qualifying team will advance to regionals in D-3.
