ArtsaRound Planning Quick Draw Competition
Article Presented By Classic Brands…
(Circleville) – ArtsaRound in Circleville will be having a competition among local artists doing either a drawing or painting for the competition. The contestants will be given a 2-hour window to create their piece. The venue will be on the sidewalk just outside of the gallery. Contestants will be provided with a blank canvas on which they will create their piece. Canvas will be placed on an easel provided by the gallery. Contestants will provide their own ink/paint. The cost to enter the competition will be $10. The prize will be at least $50.
“If we have a lot of competitors, the event will be spread out over a month with a daily prize and the winners going on to the next competition. The initial year we will have the artists do a “Wild Wild West” theme”, says ArtsaRound Steve Sawyer.
“We will promote the competition as a “Wild West Gunslinger” themed challenge. Think of the movies “The Quick and the Dead” meets “Blazing Saddles” combined with the TV show “Forged in Fire”. We create a set of signs giving nicknames (“The Kid”, “The Geezer”, “The Schoolmarm”, etc.) for the artists. The artists will be encouraged to dress appropriately.”
Sawyer says artists get to show off their work and collect a bit of cash. “Visitors get to see how art is created. After the contest, visitors can talk to the artists and maybe get a few commissions. We want to make it a fun event for everyone.”
Artists can enter the competition through the ArtsAround Facebook page.
