(Chillicothe) – Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Central Ohio has released their review of 2023 activities and outreach to the region. BBBS covers Ross, Pickaway, Pike, Fayette, and Highland counties.
- 503 Total Youth in 2023– Have received services through their community-based, school-based, and ready to be matched programs.
- 44 Community Based Matches– Are currently active, including 20 new matches that have begun in 2023. These matches spend approximately one hour per week with the youth they mentor, with an average length of commitment being 28.7 months.
- 131 School Based Matches– Meet at 8 schools. They are Adena, Greenfield, New Hope Christian Academy, Southeastern, Teays Valley, Unioto, Westfall, and Zane Trace.
- 51 Ready To Be Matched Youth– Are enrolled and waiting for a volunteer to match in a one-on-one relationship with them. Of these RTBM youth, 37 are boys and 14 are girls.
- 7,404+ Total Mentoring Hours– Have been logged in 2023 by Bigs and professional staff members.
- $115,893 Community Fundraised– A record breaking Bowl for Kids Sake and another successful Dance For Kids Sake have allowed BBBS to continue offering exceptional services through the community’s generosity.
- Goals Achieved– All matches work toward goals throughout the duration of their friendship. In 2023, 90% of youth reported an improvement in academic performance, avoidance of risky behaviors, and social competence, and 92% say they have a “very important adult” who they trust and rely on.
