The Bulldogs of Bloom Carroll scored on five of their seven possessions in their 35-6 MSL win at Logan Elm Friday, boosting their record to (4-0/6-1) while handing the Braves their first loss of the season.
Bloom Carroll took the game’s opening drive 65 yards in 10 plays, scoring on an Ethan Thanthanavong 17 yard TD pass to tight end Michael Stevenson on a 4th down play at 7:58 in the first quarter. Treyton McKee’s PAT kick made it 7-0. Their lead went to 14-0 at 1:50 of the first quarter, driving 54 yards in 10 plays, when Dylan Armentrout scored the first of his three touchdowns on a 2 yard run.
The Bulldogs had another scoring opportunity late in the second quarter, but after lining up for a 32 yard field goal attempt, they called time out, then came back trying to covert the down only to be stopped by the Braves defense. That left the score 14-0 at halftime.
Logan Elm took that momentum into the third quarter, taking their opening drive 80 yards in 8 plays, scoring on a 39 yard Aaron Walters TD pass to Cameron Smith at 9:29 in the period. The PAT kick was blocked, leaving BC with a 14-6 lead.
That is as close as Logan Elm would get, as Bloom Carroll scored three unanswered touchdowns. The first came on a 3 yard TD run from quarterback Ethan Thanthanavong, capping a 55 yard drive on 9 plays at 5:38 for a 21-6 lead.
Following a Michael Stevenson interception of an Aaron Walters pass, BC took only 4 plays to travel 35 yards when Armenstrout scored on a 25 yard run for a 28-6 lead at 3:07 of the third quarter. The final tally came at 9:01 in the fourth quarter on a 92 yard TD run from Armentrout, capping a 96 yard drive in two plays at the final score of 35-6.
Bloom Carroll rolled up 352 total yards, with 249 coming on the ground from McDonald’s “Player of the Game” Dylan Armentrout, who also scored three touchdowns.
Despite the loss, Logan Elm’s Aaron Walters threw 26/41 for 262 yards and one touchdown, but also tossed two interceptions. The Braves also had a lost fumble in the game.
Bloom Carroll and Hamilton Township share the MSL Buckeye Division lead, as the Rangers were 55-19 winners over Circleville.
