Bobcat Career Fairs Coming to OU-Chillicothe Shoemaker Center

Article Presented By McDonald’s, “I’m Lovin’ It!”

(Chillicothe) – Ohio University Chillicothe will host two Bobcat Career Fairs on April 22 and 24, in the Shoemaker Center. The April 22 fair will focus on business, health services administration, communication and nursing careers, and the April 24 fair will focus on law enforcement, criminal justice, psychology, history, social work and sociology careers. Both fairs are scheduled from 10am to 2pm.

Employers are invited to register by April 11 for the Bobcat Career Fairs, where they will have the opportunity to meet with students who are seeking jobs or internships. Tables and chairs, along with lunch, will be provided for all registered employers.

These events are free for any students and alumni who would like to attend.

“The Bobcat Career Fairs are an opportunity for career exploration and making connections. Student attendees will have the opportunity to network with employers,” said Sarah Dreitzler-Swenson, the career development coordinator at OHIO Chillicothe.

Students can expect organizations from industries such as banking, technology, tourism, insurance, healthcare, social services, education and more.

Three virtual career workshops, including Resume Basics, Interview Basics, and Professionalism Basics, are planned to help students prepare for and get the most out of the Bobcat Career Fairs. Students who complete all three workshops either live via Teams or through the Canvas platform will receive a portfolio for their career fair materials. Swenson recommends that students have their resumes reviewed during a career coaching appointment prior to the event. Bobcats can also schedule an interview prep session, which could help them gain more confidence as they prepare for potential interviews with employers.

As participants will be meeting directly with potential employees, Swenson suggests wearing a business casual outfit. If a student needs this type of clothing, they can visit the Student Resource Center Career Closet in Bennett Hall 129. The April 24 Career Fair will conclude with a fashion show during which students will model outfits available at Ohio University’s Student Resource Center.

You can learn more about Career Services at the Ohio University Chillicothe website.
