“Bridge Street Improvement Project” Outlined by ODOT During State of the Community Event

Article Presented By Hometown-Motors, Inc.

(Chillicothe)- During the March 14th State of the Community event, ODOT District 9 Project Manager Tom Barnitz gave an update on the anticipated Bridge Street improvement project. (Click here for a link to his presentation)

The project, Barnitz says, will take about two and a half years to finish, and will be 1.12 miles long.

Although the project will take years to complete, Barnitz says, “for each of the years that we’re going to work on the project, we intend to open the traffic lanes on Bridge Street by the shopping season,” meaning that they will be open for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

During the presentation, Barnitz gave a list of ten of the roadway improvements that will be implemented.

  1. Add a new Northbound Lane from Stewart Rd to Pawnee Rd
  2. Add a new Southbound drop lane to US35 West ramp
  3. Add an access road behind Applebee’s and Raising Cane’s
  4. Add a shared-use path and sidewalks on both sides of the street where feasible
  5. Add a roundabout on Consumer Center Drive
  6. Add turn lanes and re-configure the Stewart/Consumer Center Intersection
  7. Interchange ramp re-alignment
  8. Replace all of the interchange pavement with new 9″ concrete
  9. Add new traffic signal poles, lights, and signal control equipment at 7 intersections
  10. Aesthetic enhancements, including pocket parks, a black steel fence, and sandstone retaining wall

You can view details and images of these suggested improvements on Barnitz’s presentation here.
