Charleston Pike Bridge Replacement Seeks Public Input

(Chillicothe) – As part of the Ohio Department of Transportation—District 9’s Planning Department, the district’s Environmental Office is seeking public input for a project to replace a bridge on Charleston Pike in Ross County.
It is proposed to replace the structure on C.R. 222 (Charleston Pike) at the 3.83 mile mark in Ross County, Ohio. The project is located in a rural area of Springfield Township between Schrader Road and Blacksmith Hill Road. The roadway and new structure will be on a new alignment.
The existing structure was built in 1927.
No streams will be impacted by the project.
The project will require new permanent right-of-way. The permanent right-of-way is located along the pasture field and forested hillsides.
No homes or businesses will be removed by the project.
The roadway will be closed for 90 days of the project.
The state detour will be Charleston Pike to Concord Church Rd. to US 50 to Charleston Pike. The detour is approximately 8 miles.
The funding for the project is 80% Federal and 20% Local. The environmental commitment date is 12/2/2022. The project is currently expected to be awarded 4/1/2024.
