(Chillicothe) – The City of Chillicothe has announced the start of a new Sidewalk Repair Program, with the City helping property owners with that expense.
“Sidewalks serve an important function within the City of Chillicothe. They provide a walking path to schools, businesses, and community events. They separate pedestrians from vehicular traffic, improving safety, and they connect residents, making a neighborhood a community. Well maintained sidewalks improve the appearance of neighborhoods and increase property values”, according the a press release from the City of Chillicothe.
As defined by Chillicothe Codified Ordinance 903.01, “property owners are responsible for the maintenance and repair of faulty or defective sidewalks, curbs and gutters abutting their property. The Sidewalk Repair Program provides supporting funds to share the costs of sidewalk maintenance and repair with the property owners. The city will contribute 50% up to $2000 for sidewalk repairs and 50% up to $3000 for projects that must include curb and gutter.
