Chillicothe HS Hires New Girls Basketball Coach

(Chillicothe) – The Chillicothe City School District Board of Education unanimously approved the hiring of DeSean Benson as the new Head Girls Basketball Coach at Chillicothe High School at the 4/22/24 regularly scheduled Board of Education Meeting. Benson replaces Anthony Gordon who led the team for the past 4 seasons.

Benson brings with him numerous years of experience as an assistant coach, including one season as a Boys Assistant Basketball Coach at Chillicothe High School under Coach Eric Huffer.

“We’re excited to add Coach Benson to the Cavalier Basketball community,” said Chillicothe High School Athletic Director, Knute Bonner, “his commitment to and drive for excellence both on and off the court has us looking forward to his future success here at Chillicothe High School.”

“Cavalier Nation, I am truly honored and blessed to have this opportunity to be a part of the Girls Basketball program,” said Benson. “I am excited to build a new culture while also contributing to the community through sports. Let’s bring back packed high school games with players playing with passion, intensity, and love for the game! My family and I look forward to your support and school spirit as your new Varsity Girls Basketball Head Coach. Go Cavs!”
